Snow could help Goshen’s winter wheat - Crop previously struggling with high winds and lack of precipitation

TORRINGTON – This winter’s cold temperatures, high winds and little snow cover is taking its toll on Goshen County’s winter wheat crop.

“With the weather we’ve had lately, I couldn’t put any numbers to it, but a lot of it’s probably in pretty tough shape,” James C. Hageman Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center Farm Manager Bob Baumgartner said early last week.
