Haze control could affect electric rates

LINGLE – After two years of planning and reviews, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently determined that much of Wyoming’s state implementation plan (SIP) to reduce emissions and improve visibility at the Laramie Power station, located on the Laramie River near Wheatland, is insufficient to meet the requirements of the 1999 Regional Haze Regulation (RHR) under the Clean Air Act.

In response, the EPA filed a federal implementation plan (FIP) to address the insufficiencies in the SIP.
