Goshen No. 1 in 2012 hay production

File - Goshen County ranked as the top-producing hay county in the state of Wyoming in 2012.

TORRINGTON Ranked at the top in the past as leaders in the production of corn, cattle and sugar beets, Goshen County recently took the No. 1 spot as producer of alfalfa this year over well-renowned frontrunner Fremont County, which had been the top producing county since 1962.

Jim Freeburn, director of operations at the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center (SAREC) in Lingle, said this is the first time hes known of Goshen County having a more lucrative hay season than Fremont.
