Moisture lessens drought severity

TORRINGTON Recent snowstorms removed Goshen County and surrounding areas from exceptional drought to extreme drought and added to mountain snowpack, which helped water storage and could provide better future runoff for the region.

Tony Bergantino, service climatologist for the Wyoming Water Resource Data System (WRDS), said the recent snowstorms brought averages up to where they should be for this time of year in many areas of the state, including Lusk, Casper and most of the eastern part of the state.
