Sandra Rogers’ second-graders at Lingle Elementary School submitted letters to the Guide entitled “How to cook a turkey.” This is what the students had to say, left mostly unedited and as submitted except for formatting:
I go in the woods. Don’t forget your gun. Don’t forget to wear camouflage. I watch for a Tom Turkey. There he is. Bang!!! I got him. I go home to pull out his feathers and gut him. Next, I bathe it in a bucket and let it sit for awhile. Next, Tom goes in the crock pot for 24 hours. I take Tom out and eat it with my family. That is our Thanksgiving.
