Homeowners Association seeks waste removal help
Posted: Tuesday, Mar 9th, 2010

Mary Jane Woods, president of the Pine Ridge Homeowners Association, appeared before the Fort Laramie Town Council on March 2, requesting help from the Town in collecting waste from the development.

Woods said the Association has approached TDS requesting waste collection but were unable to reach any agreement. Two problems in the way of TDS service are placement of a community dumpster(s) and disagreement over the number of full time residents in the development. Property owners who are not year-‘round residents claim they should not have to pay the same fees as full time residents.

In response to Woods’ plea for help, Fort Laramie Mayor Richard Monger said that the Town would like to be good neighbors, but since the town has a contract with TDS, he cannot jeopardize that contract by entering into a waste collection agreement with another entity. Woods and Monger both said they have tried to set up a meeting with TDS officials, but have not been successful. Both said they will continue to try to work out a solution with TDS as soon as a meeting can be scheduled.
