New school attendance policy passes

TORRINGTON – After extensive discussion and debate, as well as protests from a couple parents and community members, the Goshen County School District (GCSD) No. 1 Board of Trustees passed by 6-3 vote a new attendance policy intended to increase the attendance rate in local schools at its meeting last Tuesday.

The new attendance regulations remove the term “unexcused absence” from the schools and limit students to 10 absences per semester.
