TORRINGTON – Records in tonnage and sugar content were set with this year’s beet harvest, now being processed by the Western Sugar Cooperative sugar factory in south Torrington.
In October, the Telegram reported that Western Sugar agricultural Manager Jerry Darnell projected a 31-ton-per-acre beet harvest with 19 percent sugar content.
